It is with immense regret that we announce that Bob Bates
sadly passed away on Monday, 22 October
2007
As a founding member, Bob served as Chairman of Loyal Luton Supporters Club
between 2000-2005 and was also one of the current Vice-Chairmen. Many of you
will know Bob for the unbelievable passion he held for all things Luton Town
Football Club, his strong beliefs and the tremendous work he has put in over
the years to ensure the fans have their say and that the Club was being run for
the right intentions.
Bob got diagnosed with cancer earlier in the year and has been fighting a
long and hard battle ever since, not that he would ever let you know. However,
despite this he has acted as an incredible and rationale soundboard for me as
Chairman over this period and was still heavily involved in much of our
strategies we have embarked on.
Words can not explain the man he was and great influence he has been on
many, however, his love and affection for his family was undoubted and his
enormous friendship with those close to him was second to none.
Our deepest sympathies go out to all of Bob's family and he will be dearly
missed but never forgotten as a true friend and one of the best Luton fans we will have the fortune to come across.
Bob, aged 50, leaves a wife Sarah and three lovely children: Charlie; Alice and Daisy.
RIP
Bob Bates (1957-2007)
